Reflected Best Self

TOM Reflected Best Self

Who are you when you're at your best?

The reflected best self is an exercise aimed at helping you understand and leverage your strengths. This exercise will help you explore when you function at your best from those who know you professionally and personally.

Below you will see spaces to enter the names and email addresses of 9 people. Think about people who know you in different capacities and try to mix up the people you select. You may want to select former or current colleagues, your partner or family members, friends, mentors or mentees. Once you enter their contact details and press submit, they will be sent a short survey to complete with a handful of questions about you. If you're curious, you can view that survey here.

While your friends will receive an email from Ama La Vida, it may make sense for you to send them a personal email or text to provide them with more context about this task. If you haven't received an email about their submission in 7 days, don't forget to follow up!

As soon as they submit their feedback, you will receive an email with their responses. Once you get your feedback, group comments into “themes.” If you want to have fun, build a Word Cloud – it’s free! It will consolidate the words in the feedback that you used most and will create a picture that shows the weightedness of each word based on how often it was used. Once you have your themes, write a short paragraph in response to each one. How does that theme make you feel? What do you consistently do and say that conveys that theme? Does this theme resonate? If not, why not? There are no right or wrong questions to ask or way to respond. Simply write your thoughts and feelings.

We urge you to always keep your gifts in mind and identify opportunities - whether that's personally or professionally - where you can leverage your gifts more. This will make you feel more confident, make you stand out and contribute in a way that no one else can.
