Well hello there!
My name is Elyssa, and I am Ama La Vida’s Marketing Director. I work to build Ama La Vida’s brand and help more people know about the remarkable work we do. On a typical day, you can find me pinning our resources on Pinterest, interacting with our clients on LinkedIn, supporting our brilliant friends in the press who look to ALV for expert commentary or planning out our marketing strategy.
To understand how I got here and why I’m so passionate about the work I do, you have to start at the beginning. I grew up in a rural community in Oklahoma. I had big ambitions and an independent spirit, and so as a teenager with $700 to my name, I threw clothes in a bag and drove a few hundred miles to Dallas, TX. My motto was “sink or swim,” and I paddled my little heart out.
The past decade has gifted me a variety of experiences from serving food to the ill, to horseback riding with executives and entrepreneurs. I’ve worked in journalism, fashion, tech, and aviation, and my work has taken me across the US and to many places abroad like Turkey, Mexico, and France. The common threads across my experience are curiosity, gratitude and a desire to help people.
I road tripped one summer through the backroads of Texas to the deserts and mountains of New Mexico, and during that trip read Atlas Shrugged. It inspired me to finish my college degree, and so I applied to The School of Business at the University of Texas. There I graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in both Marketing and Management. In my search for a career with an impact and the challenge of pioneering an industry, kismet brought me to Ama La Vida.
Seeing the energy and the passion within our ALV Team and Coaches inspires and fuels my dedication to “Always Be Bettering” (that’s a link to Pinterest Board, by the way) and loving every day. We have an awe-inspiring company and soul that makes Ama La Vida an adult’s happy place. We do have something special here for everyone.
When I’m not working with our incredible team of ALV and clients, I volunteer my time and speak with small groups of teen girls, planting seeds of resilience and confidence. My boyfriend and I also make time to travel, often to our spot in Marfa or camping in one of the many breathtaking state parks Texas has to offer where we love to go hiking and fly-fishing.
