Hi, I’m Katie! I grew up in the land down-under where barbecues meet kangaroos and the sun is (almost) always shining. After completing my degree in Finance and Economics, I started my career in Investment Banking. While I learned a lot and earned a lot, I just knew there was something still missing. I eventually realized that society’s definition of “success” did not necessarily equate to happiness and I was ready to pursue something that did. I had always loved working with and helping other people, and that itch was still there. After a difficult decision to resign from my job, I began my Coaching Certification with the NeuroLeadership Institute. I immediately fell in love with Coaching and knew that I had found my passion and calling. I now work with others to help them find theirs. I am passionate about helping individuals explore, discover and pursue a life that brings them both deep fulfillment and phenomenal success.
I currently lead the Personal Coaching side of Ama La Vida and love training and mentoring new coaches who join our quickly growing platform. My coaching approach is results-orientated and deeply rooted in neuroscience and positive psychology. I am passionate about ensuring that my clients not only develop new and profound insights but are also equipped with the tools, strategies and motivation to implement those insights for meaningful and long-lasting change. My process is structured, rigorous, measurable and heavily focused on results.
I have been interviewed by publications such as Moneyish, The New York Post, Bustle, Brit + Co and Thrive Global for my insights and expertise. In particular, I love sharing my knowledge and experience to help people develop meaningful goals and strategies that translate an “okay” life into one that is both invigorating and extremely rewarding. You can read some of my recent articles and blog posts here.
My training was delivered by the NeuroLeadership Institute and was particularly focused on neuroscience and psychology as a way to inspire individuals and empower meaningful change. As such, I use a brain-based coaching approach that leverages research in emotional intelligence and positive psychology. Sometimes I explicitly discuss this with my clients; helping them learn some key concepts so that they can understand various aspects of human behavior and why they do (or don’t do) what they do. However, more often it is indirect; I use my understanding of neuroscience and psychology to adjust my strategy so that each individual can learn, grow and thrive in a way that is specifically tailored to their unique personality.
As a coach, my core values are:
Every individual is capable of achieving truly phenomenal things, however Often we are so apt at seeing the genius in others and are so blind to our own talents and expertise. One of my first and foremost goals as a coach is to empower you to see and believe what you are truly capable of achieving and then, not just to see it, but to actually become it. During our time, we will identify the obstacles and habits that are holding you back and develop powerful strategies to propel you forward.
Authenticity is a very important personal value of mine and one that I carry with me into my coaching. The “Katie” my friends see and the “Katie” my husband sees is going to be the same Katie that you see. I hope that this will be reciprocated. I believe that people’s attempts to carry around different personas is extremely draining and robs them of their energy to live, love and thrive. I love getting to know people for who they truly are, and then helping them to feel safe, comfortable and confident enough to love that person too.
Trust is incredibly important in coaching. If I cannot create a safe space where you trust me enough to share your deepest fears and desires, then I have failed you as a coach. I strive to create a truly safe space in every coaching engagement: a space where you entirely trust me and I entirely trust you. I understand that trust does not come easily, and I am prepared to work rigorously and consistently to earn it.
I do not want you to finish a coaching engagement with me and feel a little bit better or a little more motivated. My goal is for you to be positively and powerfully transformed. I don’t wish to change anyone as a person. I wish to help them transform into the very best version of themselves; a version that they deeply love and are extremely proud of. Sometimes this transformation will be deep inside of you and sometimes it will be more externally obvious. It doesn’t matter where it happens as long as it occurs.
While it is incredibly important to arrive at new insights, insights amount to nothing without action. I am adamant about ensuring that your thoughts and ideas translate into strategies and actions to create powerful and long-lasting change. I also believe that “results” stretch far beyond achieving a goal. The goal outcome is great, but it is the journey and process of achieving that goal that produces the real results: the lessons you learn, the hurdles you overcome and the character you build. My promise to you is that you will not only see the results produced from coaching, but you will also feel them. And that these results will have profound ripple effects far into the future.
From the second I met Katie I felt absolutely at ease, nurtured and that I had found someone who “got me”.Her ability to ready people and suggest tips and techniques to set an achieve goals is truly amazing. She has been instrumental in my growth and finding my strength during an incredibly difficult time. Her passion, enthusiasm and positivity is unparalleled and can certainly become infectious. The tools and techniques that I have learnt during my coaching with Katie can and will be used in almost every aspect of my life.
I truly can't explain what an amazing job Katie has done. Her coaching was nothing short of excellence.Katie helped in more ways than i could have imagined. She helped surface my true passion and refine my values and career aspirations, while giving me the confidence and support to make a meaningful change.Previously, I had felt that it was too late to make a change, but Katie made me realize that it isn't too late and empowered me to get out there and go for it!
