This is my story

Hi, I’m Dorisse, known as Coach D. As a former federal hiring manager and certified Federal Career Coach, I bring over 40 years of experience in federal service spanning leadership, career development, and human resources. I have blended this foundation with professional coaching to empower, train and mentor mission-driven professionals seeking meaningful, strategic career growth.

I guide federal jobseekers and public servants who wish to compete for federal positions or pivot into private or nonprofit sectors. My focus is on serving those who are not starting from scratch but are ready for clarity, confidence, and a plan to move forward. My coaching experience comes from a place that helps people to write their story’s next chapter with IMPACT which stands for Intentional Mindset, Purposeful Alignment, Clarity & Trust. I’m committed to supporting you with grace, insight, and proven strategies whether you are applying, advancing, or transitioning in your career.

Here’s three lessons I’ve learned and want to share with you:

1. You are more qualified than you realize. Your experience, voice, values, character strengths, and resilience are not soft skills. They uniquely set you apart.
2. You do not need to have it all figured out.
As partners, we will explore what you are good at, what matters to you now, and how to align those things into a career path that you want.
3. You are not here to settle. You are here to build a life and career that makes sense to your current self, not with the one from five or more years ago.

Coaching found me after the unexpected loss of my mom, and it was a life changing moment that made me reflect on living without regrets and the impact I wanted to make in service. It was during this time that I began helping others dream bigger and pursue possibilities they had not imagined.

My career began as a typist at the FBI. No shortcuts. No fancy titles. I climbed the ranks to become the first Black Muslim woman to lead mission support operations in one of the FBI’s largest field offices. Throughout my career, I prioritized two key principles: investing in people and blending pivot and growth strategies even when I faced challenges or doubts that I didn’t fit the mold. I had to rebuild my confidence after closed doors and then re-enter through a different one. The experiences shaped my approach and that is why I coach with grace, strategy, and an understanding of leading with strengths, values, and integrity, not your fears.

The individuals I work with are mission-driven professionals who carry wisdom, experience, and are not starting from scratch. Some are navigating change, others are seeking clarity, and most are looking to feel aligned again in their identity and work.

They can be:

  • A federal employee ready to move up or make a lateral shift
  • A former Fed seeking to pivot into something more fulfilling
  • A woman in government leadership exploring her next level
  • A jobseeker tired of feeling invisible in a complex hiring system
  • A leader seeking presence, purpose, or a return to your strengths

My Coaching Approach

I’m not a transactional coach; I invest in a relational coaching style, drawing from my insider federal expertise. I believe you deserve the opportunity for your next chapter to feel authentic to you. Know that you don’t have to navigate the journey alone. I’m here to walk with you on this transformative path supported by resources, clear guidance, and my expertise in the federal and non-federal sectors.
