This is my story
Greetings, I’m Ed and I am a Career Coach with Ama La Vida. I’ve had a career in talent acquisition, recruiting, career coaching, and human resources for more than thirty years and the experience that I have gained has made me a well-rounded career coach who understands the job market and the skills it takes to find a great career opportunity.
I’ve coached clients in many different fields including scientific, healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, business support, operations, Information Technology, and sales and marketing. I’ve coached individual contributor candidates, management candidates, and executive candidates as well. I have also coached transitioning and former military clients. My focus is to offer the best possible career coaching service to help clients achieve their career goals with their current employer or perhaps a new employer.
Growing your career with your current employer or trying to find a new employer can be a challenge especially if the job market is overly competitive. My experience working on the corporate and agency sides of recruiting and talent acquisition has given me insight into the job market that I share with those that I coach. My experience and skills include guiding candidates through the job search process and coaching them to be able to best represent the value that they bring as a candidate. I have a keen understanding of how hiring managers look at potential candidates and how they go about the hiring process as I have supported dozens of hiring managers throughout my career.
I LOVE to work with:
Leaders who are:
- New in their role, first-time leaders, or who have been in a leadership role for a number of years.
- Looking to take the next step in their career, aka promotion.
- Looking to define their career path.
Professionals who are:
- Looking for the next big step in their career.
- Looking to transition into a different profession.
- Struggling with their job search results.
- Recently affected by a layoff.
People who are:
- In the job search mode and are not having much success finding their next great career opportunity.
- Getting interviews but not being hired.
- Frustrated with the lack of response to their job applications.
- Struggling to understand what company culture they can thrive in.
My Coaching Approach
My first career coaching session with a new client begins with understanding where you are in your career and what your career goals are.
Next, I want to learn about challenges that you are facing in growing your career whether with your current employer or with a new employer.
I’ll want to learn about your work interests, your work motivators, your skills, and the type of work culture you can thrive in.
Next, we’ll work on developing a career strategy and a job search strategy if you are looking to join another employer.
I’ll guide you through the job search process while working with you on the following topics:
* Resume
* LinkedIn profile
* Cover letters
* Identifying target employers
* Developing your brand
* Interviewing skills
* Negotiating skills
* Using AI within your job search strategy
