This is my story
Hi! I’m Jeremy and I am a Career and Leadership Coach with Ama La Vida. I help professionals like you who feel that they need a transition in their careers identify the career that fills their soul and move toward it. I also help professionals find new joy in the careers they have and level up their skills to become the best versions of themselves at work. I can’t wait to work with you.
I have spent almost 20 years in Corporate America in various Information Technology positions across various sectors (education, manufacturing, fintech, etc). I have progressed from junior-level to director-level positions over my corporate tenure. I have been the “youngest” and the “only” in so many of my roles and positions. I have been down the road you are traveling and I am here to tell you: You. Can. Do. It. And I can be your accountability partner.
Look, I get it. You are not happy in the position you are in. You are not sure whether you are doing the work that fuels your soul. You are collecting a check but you don’t feel satisfied at the end of your day. You want to make a change but you don’t know how to do it, where you should do it, or what you should do. You just know when you need to do it. NOW. I can help you.
I started my IT career at age 18 as a college intern. Over the next three years, I transitioned to a junior and later a senior-level helpdesk technician. After I got married and moved to Atlanta, GA, over the next 5 years, I moved from Staff to Senior roles at a new company. Then, at age 26, as my wife and I were buying our first home, I got the surprise news that my job had been eliminated (AKA I was headed into unemployment). Fortunately, I had a few months before it took effect. After months of searching, I landed a new role at a Fortune 100 company. Over the next 5 years, I grew from Systems Admin to Solutions Architect, and by 33 I moved to a Fortune 200 Fintech firm and became a Director Level Architect. By the way, I was (and continue to be) the youngest person in this level position across the whole of the company.
An amazing shift for me occurred in the past few years. I started working with a creativity coach who helped me to identify what were my strengths, passions, and skills and I realized that across all those positions and even outside of my career there was a common thread. I always have been a coach. I have mentored junior-level employees. I have worked with interns to help them define and reach their goals. Outside of work, I have guided individuals through career shifts, overcoming mental blocks, and reaching their full potential. I have led workshops, taught classes, gained much experience as a highly effective public speaker, and even trained others in public speaking. And when I do these things, I feel ALIVE. So I went back to school to get certified as a career and leadership coach. And then I found Ama La Vida, and I am now here to help you.
My Coaching Approach
Coaching is an interactive process. Here’s a secret: the answers are in you. I will ask you thought-provoking questions and create a safe space for you to reflect and explore. Within that space, you will gain greater clarity about your goals and value and identify any limiting beliefs or behaviors that may be getting in your way. I will support you through your journey of growth and development. We will tap into your deepest motivations to help you stay focused and committed to your goals.
I will focus, not just on helping you find a job, but developing your career and helping you become a better human across all areas of your life. After all, our personal and professional lives are interconnected and by developing skills and habits that promote well-being and fulfillment, you can achieve success, happiness, and a sense of purpose in all aspects of your life.
So, let me join you on this transformational ride. I know you will be a better version of yourself on the other side.
