This is my story
Hello! I’m Leslie Pogue and I’m a Lifestyle Coach with Ama La Vida.
I look forward to meeting with you. I believe we are all happy, but it is just a matter of digging through the stuff that happens everyday to get to it and hold on to it. There is nothing I love more than that “ah ha” moment when you realize the power you’ve had all along. But first you must be clear on what you want, where you are starting from, and the steps to move into your own journey.
My journey began in my early 20s when I was diagnosed with Anxiety Panic Disorder with Depression. That sounded like this huge thing, and I had no idea what to do. I followed everything my doctor asked me to do and then he wanted to put me on lithium. Well, all I heard was lobotomy and I was done. I got off the medication and it became my life purpose to understand this mental illness. I have spent the last 30 years learning and understanding the variations of depression and anxiety and the last 10 years helping and educating people about it until finally I got my Master’s in Psychology in 2020.
Through the years, I have faced similar situations as a lot of people; feeling under-utilized at work, unhappy with my relationships both personal and professional, stuck, confused, and oftentimes just lost. I have used coaching myself and wanted to use my talents and knowledge to help others in a more deliberate way. Becoming a coach with Ama La Vida is one of the best decisions I’ve made. I love ushering people into the life they want using the talents they already possess but couldn’t see for themselves.
Through my own experience, I learned that how we think about and approach the world around us, can have a direct impact on how we experience life. It’s the choices we make and the truths we tell ourselves that empower us to move into the life we want.
Outside of Ama La Vida, I am on the board of a mental health non-profit to further my own education but also help bring my knowledge and experience to their curriculum and community. I am a comedian and singer for fun and I enjoy theater and spending time with friends over golf, brunch, and just getting together to support each other. It is that balance that adds the flavor to life so finding your personal passions and simple interests create those moments to look forward to. Our work together will help you create a life you look forward to waking up to.
My Coaching Approach
I see my role as your coach as a guide to help you get clear on what you truly want and support you in creating your path to get there. We’ll start with some assessments and intake forms to get a sense of where you are in your life, what’s important to you, what’s working, and what your goals are. From there, we’ll do a deep dive into what’s been stopping you and why you’re not making the progress you’d like to make. From there, we’ll get practical about goals and your path forward. This is a continual process. We start, make some progress, then reassess as you gather more information about yourself, and adjust accordingly.
Working with me, you can expect to address:
- Self-care
- Limiting beliefs
- Values
- Visualization
- Balance
- Time management
- Behavior modification
- Fears
- Self-worth
- Goal setting processes and practices
- Self-talk
- Public speaking
While we will work through these topics, I also like to leave space for free-flowing sessions on your own personal topics so that we can customize and address your most essential topics and issues. Our work together is all in service of helping you create a life you look forward to waking up to.
