This is my story
Greetings! My name is Lisa Allie and I am honored to be a career and leadership coach at Ama La Vida. Though I would enjoy learning about you more, let me briefly share with you my unconventional career journey from entrepreneur to nonprofit professional to career coach. I hope my story will empower you to consider the endless possibilities in front of you as you decide the direction of your career path.
I began my career as an entrepreneur who knew nothing about owning a business. I bought a manual and five days of training from a dental staffing business because I thought becoming a dental recruiter would be a great adventure. I started the company with a very small office, very little capital, and no staff. In less than 10 years, the organization employed over 700 temporary employees at two locations. After I sold the business, I transitioned into a stay-at-home mom for two boys and three dogs.
When my children went to college, I did too. I earned a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University. Though I was one of the older students in the program, I certainly had the most fun! I also found that I am a true lifelong learner and enjoy continually discovering new skills. My degree enabled me to pivot from the staffing and recruiting industry to the nonprofit sector. I’ve had the privilege of fundraising for large and small organizations and publishing data on the root causes of homelessness in my community. I’ve also served as an interim Executive Director for a local homeless youth organization.
I am a risk taker and the word “can’t” is simply not in my vocabulary. I firmly believe that each of us has a passion and a purpose that should be uncovered and explored. As a recruiter, I’ve guided many professionals to more fulfilling opportunities. As a coach, I’ve helped individuals from diverse backgrounds and industries discover their strengths and abilities to confidently pursue their goals.

My Coaching Approach
Transformational change is defined as frame-breaking change that alters your current operating structure. Whether you are changing jobs, careers, entering into the gig economy or entrepreneurship, these are life changing events. Together, we will discover the direction you want to explore, with the understanding that the process is non-linear and you may discover a path or direction you had not initially considered. We will find your focus, explore your priorities, your strengths and past successes to create your direction, personal brand and plan your approach for reaching the goals you set forth.
