This is my story
I really like the person I’m becoming! When you meet me, you’ll see this patient, disciplined, self-aware guy who walks in clarity and purpose. You’ll hear someone who has learned to listen to his gut and challenge the things about his career and life that aren’t serving him. But understand thisโฆ I haven’t always been this way!
I used to allow imposter syndrome and self-doubt to get the best of me. In fact, I quit my first consulting job because I felt I’d been promoted too fast, thinking “What if I can’t do the work? What if it turns out I don’t deserve this promotion?”
I used to let my perfectionist tendencies tempt me into procrastination and laziness. I could be in the Guinness Book of World Records for the number of times I’ve said, “I’ll do it later.”
I used to ruminate over the first (and twenty-first) impressions I made, wondering if I’d talked too much or rubbed someone the wrong way or forgotten to smile when I said “goodbye.” Luckily, I’ve learned to trust myself and my personality. And who am I kidding? I’m always smiling ๐
I used to worry that I’d never find passion in my work or purpose in my career. So many companies and roles that didn’t quite “fit,” you know? Maybe you’ve struggled with this nagging thought as well?
I want to give you a sense of where I came from. Through self-reflection and a lot of coaching, I’ve learned habits and tools for turning negative or anxious thoughts into productive actions. I’ve learned how to look to the past to craft a compelling narrative for my future. I’ve learned how to have confidence and security in the fact that I’m right where I’m supposed to be.
I LOVE to work with:
Leaders who:
- understand the importance of motivating and encouraging their teams
- want to create value for their organizations by developing the skills of their people
- acknowledge that “what got them there won’t keep them there” and prioritize continuous learning
- love to learn how to do things differently and more efficiently
- self-reflect to understand their subconscious drivers and motivators
Professionals who:
- want to get more from their work, either by maximizing their current role or pivoting to a new one
- seek to repair or enhance important professional relationships
- need clarity for the next step in their career
- desire more discipline, confidence, and positivity to pursue their career goals
- wish to silence their imposter syndrome and self-doubt
High-achievers who:
- take personal and professional development seriously
- need help making sense of the long list of competing thoughts, options, and choices spinning around in their heads
- want to understand how their life goals impact their career goals (and vice versa)
- need help figuring out “what’s next?” in their life and career
- want to navigate some pretty complex relationships and/or obligations that complicate the pursuit of their goals
My Coaching Approach
I’d describe my coaching style as encouraging, casual, and realistic. My coaching sessions are a judgment-free zone. I know how it feels to sit across the computer screen from a coach, afraid to tell them I didn’t do my homework or I made the same mistake with my boss again. It’s not a great feeling. While I do want you to feel accountable to yourself and the goals we’ve made, I also understand that life happens and change is hard. We’re a team, and we’ll work on things together.
During our first session, you’ll begin to notice that I ask really, really interesting questions. I’m naturally curious and I find that answering questions is a great way for you to access motivations and emotions that you haven’t paid attention to in a while. I’m also pretty darn intuitive and emotionally intelligent. I can tell when something’s uncomfortable, not being said, or simply not quite right. I’ll often call it out, saying something like “Hey, I’m picking up on X, is it just me?”
Lastly, I’ve been told I have a disarming sense of humor. That means I know how to lighten the mood to build rapport and release the pressure. I know long lists of to-do’s, changes, and goals can get overwhelming, so I’ll use wit and humor to call it out before moving you forward with smaller steps.
What My Clients Say
“Working with Elliott has truly been a transformative journey. Elliott’s coaching provided not only a supportive space but also challenged me to explore new perspectives and confront my limitations. Through his questions and exercises, I discovered underlying beliefs that were holding me back, and I’ve since shifted towards a more positive and proactive mindset.”
– Dominique S., Founder and CEO, Intramark^
“In working with Elliott, he has pushed me to think more creatively and strategically. I’m able to recognize the behaviors that are not serving me, think ahead, and subsequently change course. One of Elliott’s (many) gifts is that he is able to absorb information, distill it down, and present it back to you in a clarifying way. This has been especially helpful to me as I’ve been in periods of change or transition. I would recommend Elliott to anyone seeking coaching, without hesitation.”
– Ally J., Associate Director, Creative Talent Endeavors
“You were great ๐ You were super connecting, a great listener, insightful and relatable. I really appreciated our time together and it was a unique value outside of the other coaches I have worked with ๐“
– Michelle M., Senior Program Manager, Meta
“Since working with Elliott, Iโve become increasingly more aware of my perceived weaknesses and how to navigate them. So much of our time was spent changing perceptions and creating actionable goals in every facet of my life. Whether it was professional, personal, or religious Elliott consistently created a safe space to explore every issue/goal to ensure I had the tools and confidence to pursue them.”
